Daisy pulls it off

April 26th - 28th 2012

Hyde Heath audiences are set for an absolutely ripping and perfectly spiffing entertainment next month when Hyde Heath Drama Group presents the hit West End play, “Daisy Pulls It off”.  And a wonderfully scrummy evening is guaranteed for all.

Super!

Written by Denise Deegan, “Daisy Pulls It off” captures the innocent world of Angela Brazil’s schoolgirl novels to perfection.

Set in the 1920’s this gloriously witty play is about the attempts of our super achieving  heroine,  Daisy Meredith – she of the title – to overcome her poor elementary school background and find acceptance and happiness  in the snobby, backbiting confines of Grangewood School for Young Ladies.  Daisy, played by Miss Abbie Mitterhuber, undergoes a number of beastly trials and tribulations and faces the ultimate indignation of expulsion.

Horrid!

Yet is being honourable, upright and straight in all things possible – and a jolly good egg to boot - , enough for our heroine to triumph over  all adversity in the face of strong opposition from her arch rivals, the sneaky Monica (Miss Eve Mitterhuber) and  toady Sybil (Miss Holly Bidgood)?  Can she unravel   the mystery of Grangewood and find the hidden treasure?  Can she help her school defeat the all-conquering,   undefeated local rivals yVearncombe in the final of the school’s hockey championship?

And do it all before lights out?

Gosh!

Directed by Estie Edwards, “Daisy Pulls It Off” will be presented for three nights only at Hyde Heath Village Hall on Thursday, April 26th, Friday, April 27th and Saturday, April 28th at 7.45 p.m.  Tickets are £10 with £9 concessions - including refreshments - available from the box office: 01494 773511 and Hyde Heath Village Shop.

Golly.

This is an amateur production by arrangement with Samuel French Ltd.
