VILLAGE HALL
AGM
Takes place this evening, Thursday
20th September in the Hall commencing at 8. 15pm.
Without a committee to run the Hall
and many working behind the scenes this very necessary
facility would not be able to keep open. All these groups
working within the Village need new young members to join
their teams. It is the same faces turning up year after
year so it would be refreshing to see some new ones.
QUIZ NIGHT
Looking ahead to Saturday October
6th – the ever popular Annual Quiz Night will take place
in the Hall with an 8pm prompt start. This is a
light-hearted event and not geared to serious Pub Quiz
Teams. Teams of 8 people , friends, family, neighbours.
This year we would like to make up a team of people new to
the Village or who haven't done it before. Bar ,Raffle and
an excellent buffet supper. Tickets £12 . Contact : David

Hyde Heath will require extra help
and would be grateful if anybody felt able to make a

setting up would be very much appreciated.
Numbers required asap for catering
purposes.
THE PLOUGH
Have launched their Christmas Menu
and are already taking bookings.
FETE 2019
It may seem somewhat early to think
of next years Fete but preparations are already in hand .
Despite appeals to recruit new
residents to come along to the Fete Committee meeting only
1 new person turned up. This annual traditional event
doesn't happen by magic. A small group of dedicated people
work extremely hard on the community's behalf. A lot of
hands make light work and various areas need allocating .
For too many years the main organisation has fallen on far
too few people and quite understandably they are not
prepared to carry the load alone. If the Village wishes
the Fete to continue and bring the community together we
need new ideas and input from the younger generation for
its continuity

The group is facing a difficult decision to close
the facility due to lack of helpers.
Volunteers are desperately needed
during term time every Monday morning from 9am – 11am.
Help is required to either prepare
refreshments or welcome, chat and set up/clear away.
This could be done on a rota basis
when no-one is committed to every Monday morning. This is
another area which needs an input from local residents and
involvement in your community. Children learning to play
together is so important – don't lose it. Contact

taking orders for these as they have proved to be a very
useful piece of equipment . Should there be sufficient

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY
3rd SEPTEMBER 8pm VILLAGE HALL
This is your chance to ask
questions , voice your opinions and hear what is happening
within the Parish. These meetings are quite a revelation

tirelessly on behalf of our local Parish and unless they
know of any problems which occur or keep occurring they
are not in a position to deal with them.
Paul Connell who is working so hard
to establish a Neighbour Watch will be speaking on the
progress so far. Paul is a retired Police Officer and is
in an excellent position to know all the regulations and
pit-falls which go with a Village Community project.
Please come and support your Parish
Council and thus support your Village .

HYDE HEATH FETE MEETING MONDAY

Yes, the wheels are already in

Event cannot take place without a dedicated team of
helpers.
Peter Phillips and Mark Mandeville
are spear heading next years Fete and will need every
willing pair of hands . Our Fete is the biggest and the
best around the area and we would like it to continue that
way.The organisers will welcome new young blood with new
ideas – like YOU.
There is nothing more satisfying

NEIGHBOURHOOD ALERT
There has been many postings
on the Village website highlighting a Silver Vauxhall or
Fiesta which has been trawling the Village within recent
days. Unfortunately no-one has come up a number plate.
Please be vigilant and keep all your sheds and outer doors
locked. If you are in the rear of your property make sure
the windows at the front of the property are closed and
locked.
DOG FOULING
Several reports again
concerning this anti-social behaviour by a minority of dog
owners. Regrettably in this day and age if anyone is
confronted all you will receive is a torrent of abuse or
even physically threatened. Photographic evidence would be
helpful in tracking down the perpetrators .

throbbing to the sound of “ULTIMATE LEGENDS”.
Tickets £18 to include supper and a licensed bar and
raffle. Tickets available from the Village Shop but do
check there are tickets still for sale.
VILLAGE SOCIETY
By now everyone in the Village should have received
their latest Newsletter.
PARKING: CDC cutting down some trees in the woods to
use as barriers to stop cars being parked on the common.
HHVS is also discussing with CDC a way of creating a green
parking area next to the school to make it easier and
safer for parents to drop off and collect their children.
ROAD SAFETY MEASURES: “H” Lines have been painted on
the road to improve safety around the school and access to
residents driveways. The latter has been a bone of
contention for many years with thoughtless parking
blocking the access to residents homes. In March
additional warning signs highlighting people crossing will
be installed along with 20mph school flashing signs.
ANNIE BAILEYS: Contrary to the belief held by many,
the now derelict pub was never purchased by HS2. There has
been an application to build a drug rehabilitation centre
on the site.

Congratulations to Hyde Heath Theatre Club for their amazing “in the

hailed as “one of the best productions they have ever

It brought home the horrors of WW1 up close and
uncomfortably but ought to be compulsory viewing for some
of our leaders of today.
